Since its inception, the Pantry has been fully operated and staffed by volunteers.

Almost all our regularly scheduled volunteer slots are filled. We currently have  a couple of openings for packers and a receptionist. We are always interested in training new volunteers to serve as substitutes when needed.

Please let us know if you would like to work along side some of our current volunteers for a few sessions and then be placed on the substitute list until there is an opening in the volunteer schedule that would be good for you. To get started, please email your name and phone number to efoodpantry@aol.com. A Pantry board member will contact you to schedule a good time to get acquainted with the Pantry operations.

There are 3 main volunteer jobs. You may pick the jobs you like. You may work once a month, or more frequently, on a regular basis; or just substitute when needed. Our volunteer coodinators will be happy to work with your schedule.

RECEPTIONIST – Works in the office during Pantry hours; greets clients, receives the vouchers, records visits, assures that we operate within the Pantry guidelines, calls orders down to volunteers who pack and distribute the bags of food. Usually, two volunteers work together in the office.

PACKER – Requires some light to moderate lifting; works during Pantry hours; takes order calls from registrar, pre-packs orders based on family size, restocks pantry shelves with items from back end storage areas, adds cold items to orders and takes bags of food to client pickup point (beside the packing area). Four volunteers usually work together.

FOOD TEAM – Requires moderate to heavy lifting; works a couple of hours on Monday and Wednesday mornings starting about 8AM; pickup food from food bank and suppliers, receive large orders delivered by food bank, sort and store donations.
